The Essence Of Self Care

When was the last time you cared for yourself?

Most people are quick to think self-care is the satisfaction they get from helping others, that is good, but it does not equal self-care.

What Is Self-Care?

In a nutshell, self-care is anything you do for yourself that makes you feel good and happy. It is not about any other person but you. It is being kind, compassionate, and giving back to you.

Self-care is knowing what you are capable of. It is saying no to a friend because you are running low, it is stepping back to review how you spent your day or what you could have done differently.

Self-care is the positive step we take to build our strength and personality. Only the things you do for yourself at your own volition is self-care.

What Are The Types Of Self-Care?

Emotional Self-Care

The ability to understand your triggers and subdue or let it out at the right time is essential. Emotions like anger, happiness, excitement, sadness, anxiety, and hurt all play a part in our overall wellbeing.

Keeping a journal of your daily emotional feeling is a great way to monitor your emotions and contain the excesses.

Spiritual Self-Care

This is having a deeper sense of connection to a superior being that keeps you in check. It can be religion, the universe, or what works for you. A beneficial way to develop spiritual self-care is through meditation and mindfulness practice.

Mental Self-Care

This is anything that keeps your mind activity improves your cognitive abilities and psychological well-being. Simple ways to achieve this are building a healthy mind and attitude to your surrounding or doing a mental challenge regularly.

Physical Self-Care

Social Self-Care

When was the last time you took yourself out on a date with your friends? Are you too busy to find time for them or your family? Social self-care is connecting with people that remind us of whom we are and why we are loved. Pick up the phone and place a call to a friend, loved one, or a long-time companion.

Self-care is about you, no compulsion, just taking time to do what is suitable for you.

Please do not confuse it with selfishness.

Everyone deserves some me time.
